headspace
mainsite refresh

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. They approached Bliss Media to help them refresh their primary website.

Intensive workshops were undertaken with staff, young people and professionals to determine what the then website did well and where it needed help. The primary outcome of which was the importance of getting people to either visit a center or contact the support line.

oldsite

headspace had evolved during the period the initial website was live and both the brand and language used on the site no longer fit headspce or it's users. The new site needed to reflect what headspace is now.

The information architecture was challenging as it had to work for young people who are potentially in crisis, their parents, professionals who work with children and medical professionals.

Additionally one of the main failings of the original site was the depth of the structure, it's users struggled to navigate it. The revised architecture presents itself as simple, guiding the user to content, epecially where the concepts were complex.

The solution for headspace was prototyped and tested to ensure the interactivity did not impeed the usability and experience.

Visually headspace wanted something a bit off the beaten track and ground breaking. It had to appeal to a youth audience, be taken seriously and comply with WCAG 2.0 Level AA.

The result is a site that neither looks childish or boring. The personallity of the organisation shines through without hindering the utility of the site.

The elevator pitch.

I’ve been creating parts of the internet for more than 15 years and I’m completely in love with the digital medium. Design has the power to change the world and I work to be on the positive side of that change. My special skills are information architecture, user experience, mentoring and opening stuck jars.
