Extra-curricular

Culture is a huge part of a great work environment. To give you an idea of my cultural fit here's a few things I do for fun.

I run.

I’ve been asked if I'm okay in the head after saying I run for fun. Part meditation, part brainstorm and part adventure, running is how I find my centre and I go a bit peculiar if I leave it too long.

Sometimes I even race officially. Once, I even beat an old lady pushing a pram. Im pretty slow.

I read.

Specifically science fiction. Given the right conditions I could empty a library of its science fiction section in a matter of months. I like the unusual perspectives you get from sci-fi, like what would happen if dolphins were sentient and became space ship pilots? or what if you you could install a computer in your brain?

Both these books exist by the way, the first is called Startide Rising and the second is Nexus. They're both really good.

I listen.

I love music. I have this weird theory that matching the right song to the right moment can make it transendental. Because of this I have a pretty big playlist habit - if only to increase the likelyhood that the right song will come on at the right moment. But there's no music snobbery here, I am just as likely to be caught listening to Taylor Swift as Aphex Twin.

Proof? Here's a playlist I made especially for this moment;

The elevator pitch.

I’ve been creating parts of the internet for more than 15 years and I’m completely in love with the digital medium. Design has the power to change the world and I work to be on the positive side of that change. My special skills are information architecture, user experience, mentoring and opening stuck jars.
