I have a huge amount of experience in consumer focusing digital products and websites and would be a great fit for Backbase’s open position for a product designer. Specifically my recent work with Clipsal in the production of their consumer facing product catalogue.
I am especially adept at using data to drive my design decisions, planning and conceptualising digital experiences using user flows, wireframes, prototyping then being able to communicate the vision to both the team and wider stakeholder groups.
Im extremely interested in what Backbase are doing, having lived in Amsterdam and experienced a different and more exciting fin-tech culture. I found the market to be much more progressive than it is in Australia and that’s got me excited for what might happen here.
Agency life has given me a huge breath of experience. I have found that I’ve given my best when involved long term with all aspects of the journey to the solution; from strategy, and information architecture to interface and content design. This insight has me looking for something a bit different than the relatively short term engagements typical to digital agencies.
It baffles me that as an individual you spend your entire career perfecting a skill only to work yourself into a position in which you no longer practice. While mentoring and creative leadership are important, I want to continue to practice practical design, solving design problems and perfecting my craft.
Once again, thank you so much for your consideration.
Below are a few examples of my recent projects to help you get to know my work a bit more. Before you dive in, I've made a playlist to set the mood while you browse. In addition, let me give you an idea of what I'm like to work with and what I do for fun.

In 2018 my partner got a contract to work in Amsterdam and we moved there from Melbourne for 18 months. I had the privilege of continuing my work with Luminary Digital remotely. To ensure I was available when the rest of the team were online, I started my days at 5am. I was able to carry out my full capacity as Design Director remotely, from pitches to one-on-ones with my team. The business owners at Luminary were impressed with my performance over this time.
I loved working remotely. The time when most of the team were offline were my power hours, and it was during my remote stint that I came to understand that I'm happiest when Im producing.

I’ve been creating parts of the internet for more than 15 years and I’m completely in love with the digital medium. Design has the power to change the world and I work to be on the positive side of that change. My special skills are information architecture, user experience, mentoring and opening stuck jars.
